Introducing the Mi-Sport VRX Race Computer

This patent pending device is a fantastic motivator and great accessory for many training scenarios. The VRX is wrist worn or cycle mounted and allows the user to race against or be paced by a virtual athlete. It can be used for running, cycling, rowing, or even a cross trainer machine. The screen displays the virtual competitor`s distance in miles or kilometers and race parameters can be set to any standard – just starting out or the world`s best.

The Race is on

Because the VRX does not rely on GPS it can be used indoors as well as outdoors, making it perfect for indoor turbo trainers, rowing machines, gym bikes, running machines and track running.

The VRX computer is based on the idea that in many situations GPS is not needed to measure distance and speed. Running machines have these parameters displayed, as do gym bikes. Cyclists usually have cycle computers of some sort already to measure distance and speed, either by circumference of the wheel or GPS cycle computers when outdoors. The VRX therefore displays the progress of the virtual athlete and the user compares this to their own progress on their own measuring device.

A runner knows exactly the distance covered when on a running track so the VRX could be used to pace you through or have a race. Even with outdoor routes, if you know your approximate distances, the VRX can spur you on. In “Pace Mode” the exact finish time is known and the virtual athlete will run steadily. In “Race Mode” there is a variable speed profile and an unknown exact finish time within the parameters you set. This make things more like a real race.

In either mode the VRX acts as a great training aid and adds a new dimension to your sessions. Many of us can squeeze that little extra out of ourselves once the competitive element kicks in. The VRX creates this in training. Rather than analyse performance post workout, the VRX tries to get a better performance out of us during the workout.
